Campari

Post by slushfund »

I had some of this, for the first time, at a restaurant in Austria. Mixed with orange something. It kicked my ass. Interesting tastes too, with bitter, sweet, and an alcohol coating on top.

Perhaps a new, additional ingredient for the punch?

wouldn't that upset the delicate balance of flavor and texture in the punch and perhaps taint the consistory of extreme pleasure and depravity that the cavalry intended when concocting the original recipe?

perhaps its a more suited to open the palette for a home cooked ronco rotisserie meal...

Oh, aperitifs. Yeah, sometimes you have to be reminded that there's still food waiting to be eaten. After round 7.

heh - you know how sometimes you have a to shake things up a little bit? Like, you get into a rut of drinking the same things over and over again?
I was watching The Life Aquatic for the 705th time and it hit me: all he does is drink Campari for that whole movie. He even pulls a bottle and a shot glass out of his tux jacket at one point. Well, technically he has a glass of wine and a flute of champagne, but mostly it's Campari.
So I set out to only drink Campari all day and night. I met my friend at some bar/restaurant she knows and did just that.
Here's what I learned:

It takes a long damn time to get drunk on Campari. It's like 40 proof.
also
I kind of like the taste.

I like Campari. With lemon is good. It also goes nice in gin, I'm a fan of the Negroni.

I work at a bottle shop and I saw a bottle of this, never tried it before but it's $35 for 700mL and it's noly 20% so I assumed it would be good ( 700mL of Jim beam is $35 ). Anyway went out that night, ordered a campari on the rocks and it tastes likes its about 151 proof it burns and the taste is really not that fantastic.
