I'll be on the road for business that day, but I'll do my damdedest to find a Perfect Manhattan.

I do agree, that's confusing.

Manhattan day? What a hassle. I'll have to inhale smoke from a tailpipe, buy a $12 pack of cigarettes, fail to understond a food cart vendor, and get called a "motherfucker" or "asshole" in a NY accent from some local yokel for doing something considered friendly elsewhere in the country. A flask would sure smooth things out tho...

This old thread inspired. Old Overholt BIB rye and Tribuno sweet vermouth with Peychauds bitters. Next will be with the regular Angostra and the following with the orange.

Hey! That's a tasty looking Overholt Manhatten you got there Hirsute One. (Snapping a pic with the background image through a drinking glass has become your trademark over the years)

Ok of the three bitters I tried the orang bitters from Angostura truly made that Manhattan sing like Frankie back in the day. New York, New York! Damn. Now to upgrade the vermouth when I get through this dreck.

Do all of you guys have those bartending implements and glasses like Patchez has in that pic?

All I have is a couple of squat drinking glasses and a wine glass engraved with a "B" (B is for Betty, my mom's name). She gave them to me many years ago.

But I don't mix drinks because it seems like too much work. A box of wine, a can of beer, or a bottle of whiskey is all I ever get.

The liquor store has different size and shape glasses for sale and I think about buying them, but since I don't mix drinks, I never do.

Hugh don't mistake my set up as fancy. I do have a lot of stuff but it's mostly yard sale and auction buys with some low end Wally World stuff I picked up. If I was more serious about mixing cocktails I'd upgrade. For the most part I'm a beer and neat or on the rocks guy. I just get a wild hair up my ass once in a while and go on a cocktail run for about a week or two. Then the fervor dies and I revert to my go tos.

Old Overholt bonded rye in a Manhattan? That's about as perfect a base as you can get.

Much, much good on you Professor Patchez for your ongoing experiments toward the embigguning of the Drunkard Sciences. We could all use a little of what you have, and by that I mean your liquor.
