Favorite rums

Post by bsims »

My favorite rums are: Goslings from Bermuda,
Pussers (the blue label) from the Brit Virgin Islands,
or Appleton's Estate V/X from Jamaica.

What's your favorite rums?

Nevr had the first 2 but Appleton Estate is phenominal.

I also like Meyers alot. And you can almost always find that at a bar.

Just the mention of Pussers gives me an uncontrollable urge to go to the store and retrieve all of the necessary ingredients for a Painkiller #4. Yummy...

What moderately priced rum would you suggest to an inexperienced rum drinker?

It's got to have decent flavor, otherwise it may scare me away from rum forever, but it can't be more than your average bottle of booze.
Happiness is a pint of guinness and a shot of jack.

I think Meyer's would fit that bill. I think its delicious, but it would only be considered a "call" Rum, not a top shelf. Ihaven't bought a whole bottle of it in ages but its definately under $20 a liter and they have it at almost every bar.

The easiest rum I can think of is Whalers it's about $12 for a .75 but I don't think you can burn a drink while using it. :)
I can't write like Papa, you know I just ain't able
But if he came in here tonight, I'd drink him under the table -Ronny Elliott

RIP Mayhem, as long as I have a heart you are in it.

Bacardi Anejo is a great intro rum that's usually well-priced.

Woods 100. British Navy Rum. A swine to get hold of but worth every penny. I don't think I have ever been so drunk...
