Anyone who knows what their talking about also knows cheap bourbon buzzes start giving you a fucking hang over before your even finnished getting wasted. But some people just never notice the difference. To each their own I guess. Ignorance is bliss...

Ignorant? right... For me, it boils down to taste, I don't get hangovers from any Bourbon, cheap or expensive, I let my taste buds take me wherever they feel they need to go, be it Old Crow or Stagg. Some of my favorite Bourbons can be found on the middle and lower shelves, if I ran straight for the top, I would have neevr fell in love with WT101 or the EW.

the only Bourbon you can get in my hometown is Beam. well and you could get TJD (not a Bourbon, i know, but you guys dont want that right?

When I read this I thought of the kind of guy who decants his Bourbon. I'm not trying to diss on anybody; Elijah is certainly entitled to his opinion, but I think he's got a whole other perspective on Bourbon than, say, Casino.

I guess no matter where we start drinking Bourbon, or why, we have our own goals and our own reasons. I mean, to me, when he says:

I feel like he's way off. Bourbon isn't about money. There's no such thing as "good" Bourbon or "bad" Bourbon. Bourbon starts out at "fantastic" and just moves up from there. I haven't tried a lot of the top-shelf stuff because of what I have, I've been a little disappointed. I like Evan or Beam or the Old Crow better than Knob Creek, or Maker's or whathaveyou. But, then again, I don't drink Bourbon for smoothness or subtle flavors.

Lemme second that. Old crow, ten high, EW... those are all fantastic. So is Rebel Yell. I don't particularly care for Makers Mark anymore. Knob is good, and so is Woodbridge or Woodford or whatever the fuck it is, but it's not five times better than Old Crow.

Bottom line is that any bourbon is going to be really fucking good. Just lean into it and enjoy.

You know, on a second thought, I might have to rescend my post. When I started drinking wine, it was the sweeter ones. Then, as my palate developed, the preference changed as well.

I will always say that Jim Beam and Elijah Craig are the best bourbons for the money because I'm an opinionated boob. But, then again, Beam is so smooth that it's like a starter pistol. It's that nice spring board from which a vodka or ginnie can catapult to another level of happy. Maybe we should have told you what was good to START from.

I don't know. Maybe I could be on this board for 20 years and still not know how to instruct a fellow drunkard as to how to enjoy their own personal tastes. What I do know is that I like to drink, and when I do, it's bourbon in the form of a nice, slow shot, so that I feel the warmth quickly but smoothly.

Some of us like to have it over ice and really enjoy it like I enjoy wine. I prefer to really taste wine with a good meal. Never occurred to me to treat bouron that way. While I like bourbon, I like it with a purpose.

Maybe I should have asked you what your purpose was. There's no shame in any purpose here. Quick, the dead, or slow, it's all bourbon, and it's all a playground of preference. I should have asked you or read your post better.

In retrospect, Basil Hayden is a real sip. Bullitt hits me hard and is what you use to do business with. Craig is like novacaine. No pain.

Someday, I'll quit typing "I" so much.

I've only had this stuff straight a few times...I don't really care for it. As a mixer it's just fine and reasonably priced but I just don't think it holds its own as well as the Black.

It's what I consider the standard of Bourbon. It's in that big fat part of the curve right about C+ range. But it also defines what Bourbon is.

yep- right in the middle of the road--- a little raunchy, yet smooth..... goes well mixed or straight...... neat or on the rocks... even goes down well out of the bottle....

I find Black to be a little overwhelming, it sits too heavy after a pint or so.....

Ezra is a good middle of the road, too...... for getting "wrecked" I go with the WT101......

I find it amusing that anyone would pay alot for a bottle of bourbon....

just my two cents, which is actually worth about one cent........

Yeah, alluding that the Casino is ignorant about bourbon is...kind of on the far side of ridiculous.

But on the other hand, my first bourbon was WT101, and it's still usually the only one I drink. To me it defines what bourbon is.

Y'know, I used to know these hippy kids. These were the kind of people who thought I was a hardass for drinking Captain Morgan without mixing or chasing (wtf?). One time they picked up a bottle of Knob Creek for the express purpose of getting fucked up on it. With 40s. Of OE800. It was kind of a travesty.

Beam White (4yr) is a safe bet, but a bit pricey for me to have all the time.

Old Crow is my regular.

Makers is a gem.

Knob Creek is over rated (IMHO).

Bookers is my god.

Bulliet is good.

Rebel Yell is kinda tasty, with a kick.

Ten High does the job, but will strip furniture as well.
