I've had "good" vodka. Bleh, all tastes about the same to me. Kettle One is the only one that somewhat impressed me, but not enough for the cost.

I always buy Smirnoff . .. its not too expensive and since I'm mixing the voddie anyway, why waste my good money on more expensive voddie that won't make my drink taste any better? If its not Smirnoff, then I save up to buy Grey Goose, but that's only happened twice in my life. Tipsy did recommend buying Absolute Pepar for making Bloody Mary's with, so I have a bottle of that at home, but I don't use it very often.

I just buy bottom shelf vodka because I am either using mixers or doing freezer shots. I've tried Stolyi and glad I did but it wasn't compelling enough for me to stock it. I would say the only good reason to buy Absolut is if you love one of their flavored Vodkas. FYI it is really easy to make pepper vodka - be it black peppercorn, habanero, jalapeno or other. Great for cooking too. There was a great thread here recently, with nice pictures, about fruit infused Vodkas.

Oh yeah, I might one day buy a bottle of "Effen" Vodka but it would be because I find the name funny.

Either way, you should be drining it ice cold and it you're spending that kind of money shouldn' tbe mixing with anything fruity. If screwdrivers are what you're after don't go any higher on the shelf than shmirnof. It's a perfectly fine vodka and reasonably priced, as well.

Stoli, as Absolut is shite. Really. Absolut is Vodka for beginners, it is Vodka 101, suitable mostly for 13 year olds.

Meh, actually I often get Absolut as it is available 24/7 in every convenience store whereas Stoli is not. Recently one store has started to sell Smirnoff, which is preferable to Absolut (just), and is also NTD50 cheaper. I should go to the supermarket more to buy the really cheap stuff.
