so in the ever growing rectal burning that is the planning of a wedding...
What type of Whisk(e)y should we go with? Looking around the local stores, my Whisky options are pretty much, TJD, Dickel and...well, that's about it.
Without crossing into the Bourbon, Irish, and Scotch realms, what other Whiskey is there (CHEAP)?
The Bourbon selection will range from Old Crow to Beam, but I have no clue what, in comparable pricing, to get for the TJD drinkers.
No Brown-Foreman products need apply.

Nothing wrong with Dickel. It'll convert most from TJD. But I'd also consider more Bourbons such as WT101.
Maybe some Ryes like Old Overholt or Beam Rye?
And at the risk of getting arrested by Casino- How bout some Tito's Vodka from Texas? Basically its straight Corn Whisky without the aging.

nope, no WT101, at least not for the general populace.
It might be cruel, but I'm thinking this. Start off the Bourbon drinks with the Beam, for the first couple handles worth, after that, slowly switch over to Old Crow.
Cruel? To the trained drunk, Yes, perhaps. However, for the average wedding drinker, after about 6 or so Jim Beams, are they going to notice the Old Crow? Ecspecially for those having it mixed?....Only if they look at the bottle!
The question from the in-laws (who are only casual drinkers at best) is, "How come there's no Jack?!?!!!". Well, they don't know, and my blood pressure is too high to explain it. So basically, I need an alternative.

That must be a friggin HUGE wedding. We had one keg, a bunch of home brewed beer, Mead, Wine, a few Whiskeys, and of course Champagne and it did everybody OK.Xian wrote:alrighty then, i'll see what we can pull off.
we're looking at around 91 bottles of liqour (mix of 1/5ths and handles) and about 5kegs total. Just trying to keep my costs reasonable.
Come to think of it- it was a small wedding.
