Eagle Rare?

Post by Bluto »

Anyone ever tried Eagle Rare bourbon? I saw it on sale for $19.99 at the liqour store the other day. Now I'm trying to decide if I should give it a try or if I should just pick up a bottle of Knob Creek. Any thoughts on this?

I can't think of any reason not to try a new (to you) brand of liquor.

Of course, I never buy whiskey that's more than $6.99/0.75.

Well, in the same price range you're going to find Maker's Mark, Beam Black, Bulliett. Things like that. The Eagle Rare caught my eye because it's a single barrel bourbon. At the same time, however, the local grocery has Knob Creek on sale for $14.99.
I thik the real answer here is to buy them both.

Try it, why shouldn't you? Maybe it's the greatest bourbon you'll ever taste. You do not want to miss that.

Definitely give it a try Bluto. Eagle Rare SB is easily one of my favorite Bourbons. Personally, I like it better than Knob Creek, but that's just me. However, looking at those prices you listed, I'd have say stock up on both. Cheers!
The man who intoxicates himself on bad whisky is sometimes moved to kill his wife and set his house on fire, but the victim of applejack is capable of blowing up a whole town with dynamite and of reciting original poetry to every surviving inhabitant.

Already bought the Knob Creek. Its not my favorite bourbon ever, by a long shot, but at that price it' nice t have around. I hope to get the Eagle Rare over the weekend.

Good advice. And I think I'l take it. If it's absolutley teribe, which seems unlikely based on wht I've learned of it, I can pass it off to someone else or use it as emergency booze. If the sale's still on I'llget a bottle and let you al know how it went.
but if its the worst then your stuck with it.
"stuck with it" is such a hard term. For $20 i will have tried something absolutley ne, and if need be I can serve it to a less discriminating imbiber later on. I'm goign to try to et in on the sale tomorrow.

Seems to be on sale all around town. Though, the $14.99 was still the best deal. Local distributor must have been overstocked. Or, it's just one of those little gifts from the booze gods taht we shouldn't try to over analyze.

Very much so. I'll post more details about it when I have some time. I was very pleased with it, though, and if you can find it you should definately give it a shot.
