Shmoo,
As stated in my earlier post, I'm not much of a vodka drinker. But I've had Tito's in TX and it seemed like much the same as most others (granted, I only had it in mixed drinks).
What makes a vodka horrific? (again, I am NOT a voddy connoisseur)

Scum - I'm with ya - I'm all about the wodka! I find a Stoli O and club with a piece of orange to be deeeeeelightful! Plain wodka-wise - Smirnoff is a good bet (I was a bartender - so I don't know if that gives more weight to my opinion.)

Its an aquired taste, and it makes u wanna dance around like a kossack
Popov, I know you gave it up but at 14 bucks a handle who can resist! Also with the attrition rate my bottles suffer if I drank the good stuff I’d be broke within a week.

Meh i only drink that with the fade...same goes with VIP unless im already hella drunk.
smirnoff black label is a very good one (beats red and blue by a mile). The best vodka I ever drank was Imperial, but I only saw that in Moscow and Berlin.
I like this little Canadian vodka called Iceberg (yes it is made from actual icebergs harvested off of Newfoundland). When I want a flavoured vodka, I buy Smirnoff Vanilla. I almost always drink my vodka 50/50 with water, but still do enjoy it with yellow Gatorade occasionally. Cheers!

Jean Marc XO , it's french but it can be forgiven..
Effen black cherry vanilla, it's from Holland... and makes for one of the top 5 vodka tonics i've ever had
Grant Traverse " True North Vodka" comes from Michigan, decent , the cherry one tastes like a chocolate covered cherry
Grey Goose, i prefer the La Poire, it is also in my top 5 tonics
Van Gogh, again from Holland.. makes a pretty decent line of flavors
Imperia, it's an actual Russian vodka ... enough said
Stoli Elit , the bottle is pretty, the price is just silly, but me and one of my bartenders killed it in one sitting to no ill effects
and last but not least
Alchemy Chocolate , it's a chocolate infused polish vodka, combines a strong russian style flavor with mom's chocolate cake batter.
all of these are pretty clean , the only ones that have ever resulted in a hangover were the Van Gogh, and Alchemy.. but for that kind of flavor, there has to be a catch.
every so often i stumble into other topics..seeing this i would wholeheartedly recommend shustoff luxury vodka..it is russian i believe and damn tasty even in a martini..
I just returned from 4 months in Poland and I gotta say...they got lots of GREAT vodka there! Cheap, too. My favorite was Zubrowka though. Its flavored with a special bison grass that only grows in southern Poland, its slightly green and it tastes great straight or with a bit of apple juice. We went through about 15 bottles of it at my wedding reception.
Another thing I miss about Poland: For about 10 dollars you can order a liter of vodka at the bar and they bring it to you in a pitcher. Nice. Also no smoking ban! Damn, wish I was there right now...
grey goose...it is smooth as a baby's ass, but it is pointless to buy anything more expensive than 1.75 liters of nickolai 100 red label for mixed drinks. Vodka always tastes the same with a mixer
