Clearly you've never been to Rudy's in Hell's Kitchen.

The battle of these legendary cheap pitcher bars in NYC has always presented me with a tough call. The free hot dogs at Rudy's definitely trump the free popcorn at Grassroots, although both seem to hit the spot when you're in the midst of a day-long marathon. On the other hand, I'd have to say that I prefer the punked-out jukebox at Grassroots over the one at Rudy's, which contains mostly Motown and R&B classics. Grassroots is more spacious (it's always pretty easy to find a seat), but Rudy's is cozier, which seems to foster more drunken camaraderie.
Jerry Horne: "Sweetheart, I'd like to order two drinks: one double scotch on the rocks, and my brother would like a double scotch on the rocks."

Waitress at One Eyed Jacks: "...That's two double scotch on the rocks?"

Jerry Horne: "Next stop, rocket science."
