i have, one of the best drinking songs.

from "things dont seem as bad" by The Amity Front of Amherst Mass.

"i think i may be drinking too much wine,
but if you leave me for a few with a glass or two
well im sure to change my mind
well the doctor says its good for a heart disease
well for a broken heart like mine, i pop that cork off that bottle, and start drinkign too much wine"

"I think iv been drinking too much whiskey
but theres few that i could
say have been as good
as whiskey has been to me"

http://www.purevolume.com/theamityfront

i actualy used that "but theres few that i could ,say have been as good ,as whiskey has been to me" as the closing statement in a paper for a "drugs and health " course

ain't got nobody baby,
that I can call my short-teh..." - Bob Schneider "Mudhouse"

Sentenced - The River

Yet another morning
that feels like this
Yet another life's bitter kiss

It has been like this for I don't know how long
I only know that at some point
it all went wrong

I don't remember much from last night
but still far more than I would like to

I'm floating downstream that damned river again

What can I do now except continue
and open a bottle once more
What can I do now except see this through
and float with the stream, off the shore
- see where the river will take me

When I needed you, you weren't there
now I need booze like I need the air that I breathe

With each drink I'm drifting further away from your world
the further off I get the harder it will be to return

It has been like this for I don't know how long
I only know that at some point
it all went wrong

Floating downstream that damned river again
The river that's distilled from premium grain

What can I do now except continue
and open a bottle once more
What can I do now except see this through
and float with the stream, off the shore
- see where the river will take me
- see where the river will take me
The last thing that anyone should ever do is feel ashamed of blacking out. You were trying to get drunk last night and, goddamnit, mission accomplished.

40 oz to Freedom - Sublime

You've got your hair permed
You've got your red dress on
Screamin' that second gear was such a turn on
And the fog forming on my window tells me that the morning here
And you'll be gone before too long

Who taught you those new tricks?
Damn I shouldn't start that talk,
but life is one big question when your starin at the clock
And the answers always waiting at the liquor store, 40 oz to Freedom,
so I'll take that walk.

And I know that ohhhh...I'm not comin back
Ohh not going back
God knows not going back

You look so fine when you lie it just don't show,
That I know which way the wind blows
40 oz to freedom is the only chance I have to feel good,
even though I feel bad

And I know that ohhhh...I'm not comin back
Ohh not going back
God knows I'm not going back
God knows I'm not going back
Going to happy hour and not drinking is like going to an orgy and masturbating. You just took a great idea and turned it into a circle jerk. -Sixpack595

@Epor: I fucking LOVE Sentenced man! They have another great drinking/fuckup song, called "Nepenthe". "So drink to forget, and drown all your sorrows/bury your dreams/choose mind refinery"-awesome. It's on the '96 album "Amok", the last one they did with bassist/vocalist Taneli Järva -but I guess you knew that.

It's a bit of a long read but worth it - "Brother my cup is empty" by Nick
Cave - I'm particularly fond of the second last stanza...

Brother, my cup is empty
And I haven't got a penny
For to buy no more whiskey
I have to go home

I am the captain of my pain
Tis the bit, the bridle,
The trashing cane
The stirrup, the harness
The whipping mane
The pickled eye
The shrinking brain
O brother, buy me one more drink
I'll explain the nature of my pain
Yes, let me tell you once again
I am the captain of my pain

O brother, my cup is empty
And I haven't got a penny
For to buy no more whiskey
I have to go home

I cannot blame it all on her
To blame her all would be a lie
For many a night I lay awake
And wished that I could watch her die
To see her accusing finger spurt
To see flies swarm her hateful eye
To watch her groaning in the dirt
To see her clicking tongue crack dry
O brother, buy me one more drink
One more drink and then goodbye
And do not mock me when I say
Let's drink one more before I die

O brother, my cup is empty
And I haven't got a penny
For to buy no more whiskey
I have to go home

Well I've been sliding down on rainbows
Well I've been swinging from the stars
Now this wretch in beggars clothing
Bangs his cup across the bars
Look, this cup of mine is empty!
Seems I've misplaced my desires
Seems I'm sweeping up the ashes
Of all my former fires
So brother, be a brother
And fill this tiny cup of mine
And please, sir, make it whiskey
For I have no head for wine

O brother, my cup is empty
And I haven't got a penny
For to buy no more whiskey
I have to go home

I counted up my blessings
And counted only one
One tiny little blessing
And now that blessings gone
So buy me one more drink, my brother
Then I'm taking to the road
Yes, I'm taking to the rain
I'm taking to the snow
O my friend, my only brother
Do not let the party grieve
So throw a dollar onto the bar
Now kiss my ass and leave

O brother, my cup is empty
And I haven't got a penny
For to buy no more whiskey
I have to go home

Excuse me please, one more drink
Could you make it strong cause I don't need to think
She broke my heart, my Grace is gone
One more drink and I'll move on.
I'll miss you, pallie.

mc cormack and richard tauber are singing by the bed
there's a glass of punch below your feet and an angel
at your head
there's devils on each side of you with bottles in their
hands
you need one more drop of poison and you'll dream of
foreign lands
when you pissed yourself in frankfurt and got syph down
in cologne
and you heard the rattling death trains as you lay there
all alone
"that's really a fine thing, when a man of god begins hanging around a place like this with a bunch of dirty drunks and gamblers. if he wasn't a chaplain," general dreedle muttered, "i'd have him taken outside and shot."

Drink up, baby, stay up all night
The things you could do, you won't but you might
The potential you'll be that you'll never see
The promises you'll only make

Drink up with me now and forget all about
the pressure of days
Do what I say
and I'll make you okay and drive them away
The images stuck in your head

People you've been before that you don't want around anymore
That push and shove and won't bend to your will
I'll keep them still

Drink up, baby, look at the stars,
I'll kiss you again
Between the bars,
where I'm seeing you
There with your hands in the air waiting to finally be caught

Drink up one more time and I'll make you mine
Keep you apart, deep in my heart, separate from the rest
Where I like you the best
And keep the things you forgot

The people you've been before that you don't want around anymore
That push and shove and won't bend to your will
I'll keep them still

Elliot Smith - Between The Bars

I'm especially fond of the cover by Madeleine Peyroux, which has a real smoky bar in Paris tone to it.
Pour me another,
Oh don't wag your finger at me..
-Imogen Heap
