I love Kool Keith, but sometimes I think that his obscurity, although allowing him enough room to explore, also fails to keep him focused.
What do I mean? Well, basically Kool Keith could make a record where he plays a break beat and records himself reading the classifieds while he takes a bowel movement on the toilet, and people would call it expansive because of Kool Keith's status as an underground legend.

Willie D is one of my all time favorite rappers and one of the best rappers ever from Texas.
The Geto Boys was magical, because Scarface, D and Bushwick were a dream team. But as far as soloists, I like Willie D's "Controversy", "Goin out Like A Soldier" and "Play witcha Mama" albums better than anything Face or Bill did on their own.
