A couple things: First off, it's "Jimi". You want to change the way the man spells his name, play guitar better than he did. (Hint- ain't gonna happen).

Second, list fails without mention of Jim Morrison. I can slightly forgive you for not adding Robert Johnson, even though he invented the goddamn 27 Club, but you gotta throw Morrison in there.

It's always sad to hear about anyone dying young from alcohol/drug-related causes.

Having said that, is anyone the least bit surprised?

RIP, Amy.

Exactly. Sad but totally predictable.

It would've been better if she was a drunk crazy pugnacious chick and died from 105 of natural causes, but I'm kind of grateful that she died on what's rumored to be a "massive bender" rather than submit to the rehab celebrity cult.

She did indeed go to rehab, but never stayed clean, and who would've wanted her to? Musicians always lose all sense of humor and irony in their music when they go dry. She'd probably be putting out whiny songs right now about her personal demons(see: eminem, nine inch nails, every dry drunk musician) instead of that good shit you can drink to.

y'all cold.

never been much of a winehouse fan and criticized her on this board even when people were fapping to her madd drunk skillz, but it's kind of sad that a 27 year old girl couldn't get her shit together and effectively killed herself. so while i can't say my record collection is mourning the loss, i'll drink to her anyway because it's a tragedy (that admittedly in no way affects me) and i need another reason to drink.

cheers, amy.

Agreed. Amy Winehouse was an inspiration. For me, booze is an escape from life. To her, booze was life. Granted, it was also death, but now we're just getting into semantics.

I think it's kind of interesting that everybody just assumes she died because of drugs and alcohol, even after the autopsy report came out as inconclusive. I think this will be another mystery death like most of the 27 club: Nobody knows what exactly happened, but based on the person in question it is safe to assume drugs and alcohol had something to do with it. But then you have to ask yourself, "what if it was something else entirely that nobody will ever know?" like what if she found a really clever way to kill herself without anyone being able to detect the cause of death?

Nobody knows if it was booze, it could have been a nasty infection. Or a weak heart, or a speedball or who knows. She was on borrowed time and I'm sure she knew it. As to booze being an escape from life, I don't think so, at least for me, its a life enhancer, makes things a bit easier to look at or at least tolerate. Undrunkeness makes things much to harsh and lowers my assholiness tolerance threshold.

I do most of my moderating undrunk. I ban a lot.

After she died, I realized that I had no idea what she sounded like. So I went to Amazon. WOW. What a wonderful voice she had. Too bad she was unable to manage her addictions. Poor little girl.
