OK, at the moment I'm unemployed and have been since a coupla months before x-mas. I get a handout from the government but as you can imagine it doesn't go far; a decent weekend and your two weeks money is pretty much gone. So, although not eager to rejoin the daily grind, I find myself looking for a job. But what job should I do? My previous jobs were an accounts/office admin type thing, and I want to avoid that if I can as it is soul destroying tedium. I'm not greedy so it doesn't have to be a massive wage, I'm more interested in doing a job that I'd find interesting/bearable than earning a fortune. A living wage is all I ask.
So, any suggestions (serious or otherwise) my wise drunkards? Out of curiousity, what do you guys do? Maybe that'll give me an idea.
Employment advice?

I was just about to say, work in a liquor store. Wingman, you don't like working at a bar? I was assistant manager and that got me tons of free shit, including booze. I got to pick the shifts I bartended and I made cash money. Sure it fucking sucks to be serving everyone else's drinks but where I worked I could drink along with them so it wasn't too bad.

The selling part might not be too bad, but the actual driving-the-truck-around delivering part of that sucks ass. Don't do that, either.Wingman wrote:what i do sucks, don't do that. what i want to do is sell booze. wholesale.

Oh dear, Peetie, surely you didn't? Would you be a world famous household name musician if not for that? Sounds like you shot yourself in the foot!peetie44 wrote:Hear what that damn ape says!waahoohah wrote:The selling part might not be too bad, but the actual driving-the-truck-around delivering part of that sucks ass. Ok, typing this is some effort and grills up part of my Internet time, but I have to in the name of the Franco-british tradition.
You can go for anything implying wearing pink and panicking when you see a mouse.
Ok, more seriously, I think you could probably a) be bartendering, b) be a columnist given all the things you like to write about on your (despicably female) blog c) maybe do a pubs and bars review for a local newspaper?

As for your suggestions a) a lot of pubs over here seem to be closing due to finance, so there's a lot of competition for barwork and I have no experience on that side of the bar.
b) that would be an ideal job, I just need a lucky break I suppose.
c) Again, an ideal job. I just need someone insane enough to pay me for my ramblings!
