does anyone know how to do it?

ha, it's not for me..a friend was asking. I personally haven't filed taxes in at least 7 years or so.

Dunno about the US, but in the UK if you are late with tax returns, you get a fixed penalty, plus interest on the amount of tax owed. The penalties can be imposed for years after they were due, but I reckon if you didn't owe anything and weren't issued a penalty at the time you probably got away with it, so it's as well pretending the missing year never happened. It would probably negatively affect your credit rating if it was flagged up. Don't have a clue about US tax returns though
