In my opinion, and this will probably be greatly debated, he's the only writer that can actively compete with Rod Serling in the Twilight Zone arena. Charles Beaumont is, without a doubt, a genius, but he doesn't have the overall volume that Matheson has.

Please forgive the tense, I refer to all TZ writers in the present tense, as their work is always relevant.
BMMS is wrong.

Weird thing is, I received his vol. 3 collected stories the day he died, but I didn't know it until a couple of days later.
