American Top Gear
Are you f*cking kidding me? I love Top Gear, but I can't get behind American Top Gear. Much of the show's appeal are the hosts. I don't know about this..

I have a lot of doubts about this one too.
Here's a preview review,,:

I guess there is or was an Aussie version too.

Re: American Top Gear
While I agree the odds are it won't compare to the original, people need to stop shutting it down before it's aired. Even if the first season isn't that great, just remember the first season of new format top gear wasn't too good either. Then they got rid of their fat bloke(which it looks like America will need to do) and started to develop a relationship amongst eachother and 15 series later here we are. So long as it doesn't get shot down in the frst or second season, I think it will stand a chance.
Re: American Top Gear
Unfortunately it will always be compared to British Top Gear, which is pretty much the most popular car programme ever (at least in the UK). Apparently the guy who writes the UK show is also going to be writing the American show so you'd need to give it a chance though...

My car smells like a dumpster, so I can't relate to the show no matter where it's filmed.

Re: American Top Gear
Well, it's certainly not great like the UK original, but it is alright and watchable. The bit with the AH-1 Cobra and the Viper was fun to watch. The Skiier bit too.

Re: American Top Gear
It's too bad NBC didn't pick up the original US pilot of the show when Adam Carolla was the host. I saw him live Friday night and it just re-affirmed to me that he's the funniest/quickest person in the business.Crystal wrote:Much of the show's appeal are the hosts. I don't know about this..

Re: American Top Gear
In the tradition of Festivus, it is time for the airing of the greivances.
I hate the fat guy, no not him, the other guy with the glasses.
The challenges / events suck.
The guests are better than the hosts.
It's going downhill, downhill, downhill. Fast.
I don't even give a fuck who "The Stig" is.

So, if we were to ask James May for his opinion on American Top Gear he might respond with:

I did not agree with their car vs plane challenge though.
