'Tis a good Friday.
We cracked open an ancient bottle of Old Fitzgerald today, a potable treasure uncovered from it's slumber in the corner of an urban basement. You don't come across such opportunities often. But when you do, you savor them. While I can't share a taste with you, at least I can share a few pics. Cheers, my friends.
Old Fitzgerald 100 proof, bottled in 1948. The tax stamp reads 1956, making it aged 8 years in bond.
A smooth whiskey with all the warmth intact. Heavy oak on the finish. By far, the best Bourbon I've had in years.
This makes getting drunk easy. I thank the ethyl gods for this find.

Ahhhh, a dram of the old amber by the fire.

The pie was long gone by the time we took the pics. Pepperoni and meatball with extra cheese.

Very nice. Question: Do you taste the difference between a 50 year old whisky and a 30 year old?
Also BF, don`t refer to yourself in plural. We don`t like that haha

Not really. They're both going to be good if the bottle has remained sealed. Bottle aging doesn't do much to mellow liquor. Only when you get it into a barrel does it start to develop into something transcendent.oettinger wrote:Very nice. The Century of Malts
Not sure how I feel about this one...
The Century of Malts
Only the Chivas Brothers could blend 100 different casks of Scotch into a muddled, peaty monstrosity.
Honestly, at the end of the dram, I'd rather be sipping something else.
The cat seemed to enjoy it.

It wasn't mine to give away. His father passed and left these treasures to him, to squander as he pleases.Patchez wrote:Not even a drop of the Old Fitz make it this way?
Really, who am I to tell him otherwise?
