I got a late start today. I was just a little too hung over to fire on all cylinders.
But I got a call from a coworker at about 4:00. He wanted to have a couple of drinks. As could be expected, the lobby bar was packed and I really wanted to find a nice local dump. I asked one of the bellman and was directed to a little dive called The Cave.

Wow. Yesterday was a blur. I know fully understand why posting in real-time is not a "thing".
My coworker left The Cave at about 5:30 and I stayed there untill about 11:30. Then I had a couple more cocktails at the Hilton.
My goal now is to get the fuck out of the Los Angeles area.

At least he made it back home again safe and sound.
But hell yes, you were your own expedition party.

Here we go again. This week, I'm off to Monterey, California for a three-day conference. I'm actually looking forward to this one for several reasons:
1. Monterey is one of my favorite cities in California.
2. This trade show is interesting.
3. It's NOT in the Los Angeles basin.
4. Two of my favorite bars are located there.
The Crown and Anchor is an English pub that is always fun, and Segovia's is a great local's dive. I will be visiting both and doing a little field reporting for my fellow drunkards.
Stand by.

Re: Drunk Travel Log
If you go to the boardwalk, will you hit the rollercoaster? If you do, why not visit the monastery beforehand where the monks of the roller skating chapter created their famous cheese and produce it to this day.
The ocean breeze will carry the mixture of cheese and booze all over the rollercoaster passengers behind you. Take pics.
Seriously, though, when we all visit you, we have to check out Los Banos. It's become better than the name translates.

I drove through Los Banos without stopping. It's a fucked up little place that just happens to have the best Mexican food restaurant and best Barbecue place in the valley. I will probably stop on my way home in a few days.mistah willies wrote: ↑Tue Feb 21, 2017 4:43 pmIf you go to the boardwalk, will you hit the rollercoaster?...

Sadly, the boardwalk is closed for the winter. Otherwise, I probably would have taken the trip to Santa Cruz for a ride on that Giant Dipper. You have to. It's a sin not to.

My hotel is walking distance to The Crown and Anchor Pub. Anyone want to guess where I'm going right now?

I would stay here longer but I'm pretty tired of hearing these shit college kids saw on and on about community gardens, bad roommates, and Costco salads...
I just know that they will be the assassins of my buzz.
Off to swim in warmer waters...

Segovia's is better. I'm now drinking with a toothless Indian lady, a toothless bearded guy, a construction worker, and a hipster. This, folks, is the Monterey version of The Village People.
