True thankfulness.
WT 101, a drink prayer lifted by the fumes through my nostrils to each of you.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING MY BRUDDDAS. I have no idea what thanksgiving is or what you guys celebrate (kinda just seems like some sort of pre Christmas) but hope you all have a banger and all your givings get thoroughly thanked.
Well, since you are curious... As tradition states, the pilgrims, who we credit as the first group of European settlers to survive here (in what is now the U.S.) came over in 1620. Yes, there were already indigenous people living here, and yes, scores of other Europeans had already tried settling here. But this is the story of Thanksgiving, so bear with me.
They settled in Plymouth, Massachusetts and were able to work with some friendly natives. As legend goes, those pilgrims held a party and invited their new neighbors to join them in a feast. The reason for the soiree was to give thanks for, basically, being able to survive in this new land.
That's what little kids are taught in kindergarten. But there's way more to the story which includes them being religious nutjobs, living for a few years in Holland before heading to America, surviving on eel and turnips, and traveling with a shit ton of booze. Yep, the whole notion of "God hates alcohol cosumption" is a relatively new trend.
Today, Thanksgiving is supposed to be a time to reflect on the things for which we are thankful.
Anyhow, that's the story of Thanksgiving.
You're welcome!
