Yesterday was detox day. I was run down with the shakes so bad I could barely hold my coffee cup. Today is much better. Got a bunch of shit done and now I feel great. Even the shakes are gone (99% anyway). I totaled up how much I drink every week because I noticed since I quit my job in May I've been making a lot of liquor store runs. Every week I go through 1 5L box of wine, 1 1.75 L of whiskey, and 2 - 2 1/2 12 packs of beer. It comes out to about $37 a week. (This doesn't include drinking at the bars.) I guess it's a lot, it made me feel run down enough to take a day off yesterday. But just now poured the first drink, will start with wine and finish up the night with beer/whiskey. Cheers! (I would have thought the Yanks would be posting their asses of on here this weekend?)

An essay I wrote on poetry lambasts the "system" of American poetry, the universities, the fellowships, MFA programs, etc. It got published by, SURPRISE!, a university journal. The editor, who is himself an MFA, praised it. I was shocked he had such an open mind. It gave me heart and I dug a negative review I had written for a popular author's book. It's been rejected so often I stopped subbing it. I submitted it to two places today, one of them a university journal. The author (Nick Flynn) is thin skinned, and I really want this published if for no other reason than to start a shitstorm.
America maintains her brand on her birthday with another mass shooting. USA!
EDIT TO ADD: In the above mentioned essay that was published, I mentioned Amanda Gorman (the poet who read at President Biden's inauguration). The editor modified it so that her name was a link to her Poets.org profile page. NIce...

You are the voice of the outsider, expressive and self educated without being corrupted by said "system".

Getting drunk and writing poems plagiarizing Guillaume Apollinaire.

I got drunk and went to a bbq my lame-ass brother invited for.
I wonder if those folks thought that I reeked of vodka from last night, not knowing that I already had like ten longdrinks in the bloodstream for lunch again

Called in to help at work on a Sunday night. Blows but getting 1.75x instead of 1.5x pay is kinda nice.

Is it just me or is this week crawling by at a snail's pace?
Re: Your day in a nutshell. Share please.
it seems to be. The reason for this, in my case is, I only have to work Monday next week then it's off from Tuesday thru the weekend. I have a Jimmy Buffet concert then a treip to Michigan for a homebrewers beer fest. Gonna be a good week Tater.

It's LGBT Pride Day in my neighborhood. It's always noisy on that day, but this year is the noisiest I've ever heard it. One of the tenants here had about 15 guests prior to the parade, the place across the street has enormous speakers in the yard blasting music, and of course the club down the street is blasting music, too. Every year at this time I know I have to be patient, but this year is going to be a real test. Fuck.
